Pergolas have existed for centuries. Since Roman times, these structures have been created and later on, changed, improved and adapted over time to become the essence of Italian art, which was ingrained, over time, in their distinct structures. These charming, open-air structures are secured with a number of columns and topped with cross-beams or lattices. These airy structures are usually made of aluminium. This aluminium is both light, to minimise weight, and strong, to resist rain and wind, hence offering protection during all seasons. Pergolas may be freestanding or attached to a house. To better understand the concept of a “pergola,” it is helpful to compare and contrast it with other outdoor structures with which it is sometimes associated, including Gazebos, Trellises, Lattices or Carports. Though they are all similar in concept, yet they are all used for varying purpose and are visually different due to their particular uses.

Pergolas are most often installed on tiled, paved or concrete patios. As a standard the construction comes in two colours: Beams and Columns in a soft grey (colour RAL 7021), while the  louvres are available in clean and sharp white (colour RAL 9016).
